Pro Expander Pellets — The Ultimate Guide for Match & Commercial Anglers

What Are Expander Pellets?

Expander pellets are a staple hookbait on commercial and match fisheries across the UK. Unlike hard pellets, expanders are pumped or soaked in water to create a soft, buoyant bait that fish find irresistible. Sonu Baits Pro Expander Pellets take this concept to the next level with a high-attraction formula designed to get fish feeding fast.

Why Choose Sonu Baits Pro Expander Pellets?

Sonu Baits have built a reputation for producing baits that consistently catch fish, and their Pro Expander Pellets are no exception. Here's what sets them apart:

• Fast expansion — soak up quickly to produce a soft, natural-feeling hookbait
• High-attraction formula — packed with amino acids and flavours that draw fish into your swim
• Consistent sizing — uniform pellets mean reliable presentation on the hook every time
• Versatile — use them on the hook, in a method feeder, or as loose feed via a pole cup

How to Use Expander Pellets

Getting the best from expander pellets is all about preparation. Follow these simple steps:

1. Use a pellet pump — place your pellets in a pellet pump with cold water and pump to force water into the pellet. This gives a consistent, even expansion.
2. Soak method — alternatively, place pellets in a shallow tray of cold water for 15–30 minutes. Check regularly to avoid over-soaking.
3. Hook presentation — use a fine wire hook (size 14–18) and a banding tool or side-hooked presentation for best results.
4. Keep them fresh — once expanded, keep pellets in a damp cloth or sealed tub to maintain their texture throughout your session.

Best Venues & Target Species

Pro Expander Pellets shine on commercial fisheries where F1 carp, common carp, skimmers, and silvers are the target. They work brilliantly on the pole, waggler, or method feeder, making them one of the most versatile baits in your bag.

Top Tips for Getting the Most from Expander Pellets

• Match your pellet size to your hook size — 4mm pellets suit a size 16 hook, 6mm suit a size 14.
• Use expanders over a bed of micro pellets or groundbait to hold fish in your swim.
• On hard days, try a single expander on a light rig — the subtle presentation can make all the difference.
• Combine with Sonu Baits liquid additives for an extra edge in cold or coloured water.
