My Journey into Fishing – How a Passion Became Bait & Tackle UK

It Started at the Water's Edge

Like many anglers, my love for fishing didn't start with a shop or a brand — it started with a rod, a riverbank, and a whole lot of patience. From my very first session as a kid, I was hooked (pun very much intended). There was something about the stillness of the water, the anticipation of a bite, and the sheer joy of landing a fish that got under my skin and never left.

From Angler to Obsessive

Over the years, fishing became more than just a hobby — it became a way of life. I spent weekends at lakes and rivers across the UK, experimenting with different baits, rigs, and tactics. I became fascinated by the science behind it all: why certain groundbaits work better in cold water, how boilie flavours trigger feeding responses, which pellets draw fish in from distance. I read everything I could, talked to other anglers, and tested endlessly.

My garage slowly transformed into a bait lab. Shelves lined with Dynamite Baits, Bait Tech, Sonu Baits, and Preston Innovations gear. My family thought I'd lost the plot. I thought I'd found my calling.

The Idea Behind Bait & Tackle UK

The more I fished, the more I noticed a gap. Finding quality bait and tackle online — from brands I actually trusted — was harder than it should be. I wanted a shop run by someone who genuinely fishes, who understands the difference between a match pellet and a carp pellet, and who can give honest advice rather than just shifting stock.

So I built Bait & Tackle UK. Not as a business plan on a spreadsheet, but as the shop I always wished existed. A place where fellow anglers can find the gear they need, get real recommendations, and feel confident they're buying from someone who's been on the bank and knows what works.

What This Blog Is About

This blog is where I get to share everything I've learned — and everything I'm still learning. Expect honest bait reviews, seasonal fishing tips, buying guides, and the occasional story from a session that went brilliantly (or spectacularly wrong).

Whether you're a seasoned match angler or just starting out, I hope you find something useful here. And if you ever want to chat fishing, you know where to find me.

Tight lines,
Stephen
